So, you might know my love of colored pencils - especially after I learned how to use odorless mineral spirits with it (several years ago).... but, in the last couple years I've become rather obsessed with my Copic markers. I've left my colored pencils sorely neglected. :(

Until....

I was walking around my favorite art supply store - Blicks - and I spotted some neon colored pencils - GASP - those look awesome! For $3 I was willing to take the risk!

Ohhh - they are so much prettier in person! But, you can see them online HERE.

Anyway, I ran home (literally, I walk to Blick from my new digs - so I'm sure there was a hop in my step on the return trip) I busted out the new pencils and started coloring. Yep, they were neon - some of the shades are more 'bright' than others... but, I think they work really well together.

I created a background 'neon rainbow' with the colored pencils and blended them a bit with mineral spirits -

You know what else is so cool about this card?! (other than the sequence of course!) I used my neon ink (the hero arts inks) and stamped them on vellum - then I just put some clear embossing powder over it. It looked so pretty! I ended up LOVING this cityscape!!

I also used my favorite - Freckled Fawn wood pieces (the stars) and I just colored them with my neon Copics. Bam - Neon Cityscape - DONE!

Happy Stamping PEPS!

Ok - ready for our big spotlight today - it's on our friend Cristine Redmond. You probably know her by now - and her amazing style!

Here is a little about Cristine - in her own words...

I am so honored to be guest designing for Sweet Stamp Shop today!  I am a stay-at-home mom to my two precious red head girls (6 and 3.5) and I love my job.  I have been paper crafting for about seven years, but seriously for about three years.  I started out doing mostly scrapbook layouts, but ventured into the world of card making in the last year and a half or so. I would describe my style as shabby chic and clean & simple.  I might not do things the “right” way or the way everyone else does them, but I always give my projects my heart and soul.

Take a moment and visit her blog - HERE.

Ok, she worked with Drops Background and she did it in such a unique way!

Check it out.

She even used 'Alpha Tabs' --- that stamp set is SO versatile!

I love it with the arrows!

Have a fantastic Friday and we'll see you back here Monday morning! With another sweet spotlight!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Happy Stamping,

Cityscape

Drops Background

Van is with us today showing off some CAS cards that just make you smile. AND, it kinda reminds me of a card I might see at a cute little downtown paper shop. (something that might cost $4 or so!)

You remember Van, right?!

If not - here's a little bit about her...

I am a dedicated memory keeper who loves all things cute and bright. I have two adorable kids, am married to my high school sweetheart, and am a recovering attorney turned stay at home mom. I am a proud Navy wife and am currently living in Honolulu, Hawaii. I studied history in college and graduate school. In retrospect, scrapbooking is the perfect collision of my obsession with pretty paper and passion for documenting family history.  You can find me at my blog: http://likethecar.blogspot.com

We've Moved Card.  There are so many reasons that I love SSS stamps.  One of the main reasons is how perfect they are to make some really striking cards that are super fast and easy.  When making moving announcements, you often have to make A LOT so one layer is the way to go in my book.  I used some Jenni Bowlin brown ink as my primary color for the sentiment and outline then stamped the solid building images in a red and turquoise.  Then it's done!  How fun and easy is that?!?!?

A Day in the City Card.  This is another single layer card with some fun twists.  I love the idea of two step stamping (i.e. you stamp a solid image and then the outline or vise versa).  So I made my own sold image "stamps" based on the outline stamps using some craft foam and Xyron repositional adhesive.  Easy peasy.  And then I paired the building image with some hand drawn cars I learned from my old school Ed Emberly books.

Isn't Van the best!! - Be sure to check out the rest of her stuff on her blog - HERE.

Happy Stamping!
